Casting announced for Caryl Churchill play at the Royal Court Theatre

Linda Bassett and John Heffernan have been cast in Caryl Churchill’s new play What If If Only at the Royal Court Theatre.

The short play, which is just 14 minutes in length, will be directed by James Macdonald and runs in the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Downstairs before performances of Aleshea Harris’ play Is God Is.

The creative team for the production includes set design Miriam Buether, lighting design by Prema Mehta, sound design by Christopher Shutt and assistant direction from Grace Duggan.

Both Bassett and Heffernan have previously appeared together in Churchill's Love & Information in at the Royal Court. Churchill's plays have been performed extensively at the theatre, including the recent Glass. Kill. Bluebeard.Imp.

What If If Only will run in the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Downstairs from 29 September 2021 – 23 October 2021. Performances run Monday – Saturday at 6pm with occasional 10pm performances.

The running time for the short play is just 14 minutes and with tickets costing a maximum of just £10.
