Cast announced for Mark Gatiss' A Christmas Carol adaption

Full casting for Mark Gatiss' adaption of A Christmas Carol has been announced. The show is due to open in Nottingham from 29 October to 20 November before running at the Alexandra Theatre in London from 26 November.

Gatiss (Dracula, The League of Gentlemen, Doctor Who) leads an ensemble cast as Marley, in his own retelling of Dickens' classic winter ghost story. He is joined by Nicholas Farrell as Scrooge, James Backway as Fred, Angelina Chudi as Caroline, Jo Eaton-Kent as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Zak Ford-Williams as Tiny Tim, Aoife Gaston as Belle, Christopher Godwin as the Narrator, Edward Harrison as Bob Cratchit, Sarah Ridgeway as Mrs Cratchit and Joe Shire as Ghost of Christmas Present.

Speaking about the production, Gatiss said, "A Christmas Carol' has been absolutely my favourite story since I was, well, tiny. It’s an astonishingly powerful tale of life, love, loss and redemption and remains supremely relevant. But at its heart it is a ghost story and that will be at the core of my new version. A scary, thrilling, joyous adventure to get the blood piping on a freezing winter’s night. A Victorian phantasmagoria!"

The production is directed by Adam Penford, with design by Paul Wills, lighting design by Philip Gladwell, sound design by Ella Wahlström, video design by Nina Dunn, movement direction by Georgina Lamb, composition by Tingying Dong, casting by Sam Stevenson, puppet direction by Matthew Forbes, music direction by Tom Atwood, with Jasmine Teo as Associate Director.
