Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull in a version by Anya Reiss begins performance at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 29 June, it has been today announced. The production, directed by Jamie Lloyd, was forced to close during previews in March 2020 due to the pandemic.
Returning to the company are Emilia Clarke (Nina), Tom Rhys Harries (Trigorin), Daniel Monks (Konstantin), Indira Varma (Arkadina) and Sophie Wu (Masha), with Katie Buchholz, Tina Harris and Joseph Langdon. Further casting is to be announced.
Continuing the Jamie Lloyd Company commitment to accessibility, 12,000 tickets priced at £15 will be available across the UK productions of Cyrano de Bergerac, also announced today, and The Seagull. 75% of these tickets will be specifically for under 30s, key workers and those receiving government benefits. In addition, The Seagull continues the company’s original commitment, offering 5,000 free tickets for those with limited access to the arts.
Further news on the company’s postponed production of Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, set to star Jessica Chastain, will be announced "in due course".
The Seagull will be on sale to ATG Theatre Card Members on Monday 10 January at 10am, and those signed up for priority booking at 12pm; general booking opens Wednesday 12 January at 10am.
The production opens on 6 July, with previews from 29 June, running until 10 September 2022
