Date set for 2022 Oliver Awards

The date for next year's Olivier Awards has been set, with the ceremony set to take place on Sunday 10 April. The Royal Albert Hall will return as the location for the awards.

The delayed 2020 Olivier Awards was held on 25 October 2020 at the London Palladium with Stoppard's Leopoldstadt winning Best New Play, Dear Evan Hansen winning Best New Musical and Martin Crimp's adaption of Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac taking home Best Revival. There were no awards in 2021 due to the pandemic.

Winners in the acting categories included Andrew Scott taking home Best Actor for his performance in Noël Coward's Present Laughter at the Old Vic.

Contenders at the 2022 awards are likely to include the Cabaret and Moulin Rouge, both currently in previews, as well as the West End transfer of The Shark is Broken and the Old Vic's production of Camp Siegfried, given the star turns by Patsy Ferran and Luke Thallon in the two-hander.

Full details of the 2022 edition will be announced in due course.
